Immigration New Zealand is the operational delivery arm of the immigration system. Our core functions are:

- Ensuring that people crossing the border and staying in New Zealand are entitled to do so.
- Helping refugees to make New Zealand their home.
- Playing our part in the global immigration system.

One of your primary responsibilities will be to interpret immigration legislation to make quality immigration decisions quickly, using your proven analytical, judgement, and well-developed decision-making abilities. As an Immigration Officer, you will be working in a high-volume and high pace environment, that can change rapidly. Previous experience in a similar environment would be beneficial along with a strong customer service background, case management, organisational skills and computer literacy.

You will be joining an innovative, dynamic and vibrant team. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish a positive and consultative working relationship with stakeholders will be one of the key successes to this role.

Why work for us?

We offer a range of flexible working options within MBIE. It can take approx. 3-4 months to be fully competent in your role, so to ensure your success you will be fully trained and supported within the branch during this time. Once you are fully trained and can work independently you can speak with your manager about flexible working arrangements.

**We have a three different working patterns available**:

- Standard full time, Monday to Friday between 6am - 6pm (initial 3-4-month training period will be within the hours of 8.30am - 5pm).
- Alternative full time, Monday to Friday between 12pm - 8pm (training will take place between 12pm-8pm).
- Part time 25hrs per week, Monday to Friday 9am - 2.30pm (training will take place between 9am
- 2.30pm).

- Recent experience in a high-performance service delivery environment; including caseload management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven expertise conveying concepts, and information clearly and concisely to any variable audience.
- Experience in an administration/processing environment.
- To be able to multi-task, problem solve and thrive under pressure.
- Experience working on high caseloads in a high-pressured situation.
- A strong moral compass and be known to ‘act with integrity' in all you undertake.
- Proficiency in English language is essential. proficiency in other languages would be advantageous, however not essential.
