**Te tūnga | The role**

Stats NZ is in the process of transforming the way we collect data and deliver our outcomes. We need someone with the procurement leadership experience and intellect to guide the make versus buy decisions to optimise our use of industry and source smartly to balance the organisations immediate needs with longer term goals.

The role of Manager Procurement and Sourcing is a senior management role within the Commercial Arrangements Branch within the Organisation Infrastructure Group which is one of seven groups that report directly to the Chief Executive. The Procurement and Sourcing team is responsible for providing Stats NZ with expert commercial advice and procurement practice for the higher value, higher complexity acquisitions. On a daily basis you will be responsible for driving value and anticipating and managing the legal, reputational and supply chain risks associated with all procurement activity and projects across the organisation.

As Manager Procurement and Sourcing, you will manage your team to represent the interests of Stats NZ in our role as the lead agency for government-held data, and you will ensure the voice of industry is heard internally in support the Stats NZ outputs and priorities. You will provide strategic and commercial advice and support to the senior leadership of Stats NZ and be responsible to coordinate and develop annual procurement plans, procurement strategies and procurement reporting.

Both your IQ and EQ will be tested as you deliver to your role, and occasionally cover the role of Head of Commercial, to meet the needs of our ~1,700 Stats NZ employees over three main sites. You will work with the Census and Transformation Commercial Leads, Manager Purchasing Desk, and all the Stats NZ business units, to manage and deliver procurement activities of high value, complexity and/or risk. You will be the source of sound procurement advice and support the procurement process to ensure projects are sound, good value for money and fit with Stats NZ's wider strategic objectives.
