**Te āheinga: The opportunity**

This is a unique opportunity to work **0.6 FTE** to support the required laboratory and practical components of courses in Bridgepoint Bridging Education as well as provide academic support to improve the progression of students, particularly in mathematics and science.

The main responsibility for this role is to provide technical support toward practical activities in Bridgepoint including experimental design, lab setup, and pack-down after the lab session and provide equipment training to users with good laboratory practices, in accordance with the Unitec Health and Safety guidelines. You will also contribute to equipment and infrastructure procurement, planning and implementation.

In addition, you will support the academic staff and students as a Tutor Assistant in the areas of Math and Science and work in the classroom alongside teachers. Please see attached position description for further details.

This is an exceptionally exciting role for someone who has career aspirations in engaging and supporting student teaching while integrating technical skills into their day-to-day. We're looking for someone who is an effective communicator. You are comfortable collaborating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including academic staff, professional staff, industry stakeholders, and our students. Your passion for creating outcomes for our students is in front of your mind with everything you do.

Necessary skills and experience:

- Excellent communication, time management and organisations skills.
- A passion for working with students.
- The ability to work as part of a team and individually.
- Physically fit to undertake field and laboratory preparation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide both written and verbal instruction to a range of audiences.
- An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori.
- Desirable_
- Experience in tutoring, teaching and assessment of students.
- Demonstrable practical ability to tutor in a vocational education context.
- A current first aid and fire warden certificates.
- Experience in explaining and resolving difficult technical issues, ideally in a tertiary environment.
