**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The Payroll kapa (team) is a fundamental part of the HR Shared Services (HRSS) whānau (family). They tautoko (support) the largest workforce in the South Island ensuring we pay our kaimahi (staff) accurately, on time, every time. They - re hard-working and dedicated delivering their mahi (work) to high standards putting the kaimahi (staff) at the centre of what they do.

We are seeking a motivated Legislation and Compliance Overpayment Officer to join our Payroll kapa (team). This is a busy role where you will be responsible for development and delivery of excellent customer service experience, make timely and accurate payments to kaimahi (staff) of the Canterbury Waitaha, maintain employee records and work closely with the HRSS kapa (team).

You will be responsible for:

- Calculating overpayments in line with our policy, MECA rules, and employment legislation.
- Providing accurate and prompt information to Managers, HR Advisors and HR Business Partners.
- Contacting Managers regarding sensitive overpayment situations and for recovery of funds.
- Collaborating with members of the wider People & Communications team.
- Answering employee related queries with a confidential and empathetic approach
- Investigation and resolution of payments.

We need someone who - s resilient, driven, works well under pressure and is unphased by delivering to deadlines while achieving a high level of accuracy. This role would suit an energetic problem solver with a keen eye for detail who can adapt their style and focus when the need arises. Drive and determination to deliver excellent customer service is a must.

- Experience and knowledge of payroll processing.
- The understanding of payroll legislation.
- Fast and accurate typing skills.
- Problem solving and analytical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
- Sound organisational, time management and planning skills.
- Microsoft office suite experience and skills, with strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
