**MŌ TĒNEU TŪRANGA MAHI - ABOUT THE ROLE**

As a Community Health Promoter, you would support priority populations in your region by offering a community-led, collaborative approach to delivering sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing information. You would utilise existing networks within the community, or be able to create these relationships, particularly with Māori and Iwi, community, health and education agencies.

We are looking for 2 Community Health Promoters to be based in the Gisborne/Tairāwhiti clinic and work across the Gisborne/Tairāwhiti region. The position can be between 20 - 40 hours per week, please let us know in your cover letter your availability.

The role involves travel across the Gisborne/Tairāwhiti region, and some travel nationally. Reporting to the Health Promotion Team Leader.

This is an exciting time to join Family Planning and be a part of our recently launched Health Promotion vision and become part of our well supported and equity focused team of community health promoters who are connectors across Aotearoa, implementing our vision of creating better access and equity in areas of high need, through community development.

**To be considered for the role you will ideally have the below, however we want to hear from people who are connected in their community and willing to upskill in these areas**:

- Previous experience or tertiary qualification in education, health promotion, health or community development.
- Experience working with a diverse range of groups.
- Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues, and relationships and sexuality education preferred.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills to collaborate with your community and other partners.
- Prepared to create successful working relationships with our priority clients (e.g. young people, Māori, Pasifika and people with disabilities).
- Can demonstrate understanding of Te Tiriri o Waitangi and strategies to reduce disparities to Māori.
- A full, clean, current New Zealand drivers license (required).
- Own car for work purposes (required, reimbursement for usage available).
