**About the Role**:
The **Māori Engagement Lead** is responsible for leading Māori engagement activity during the implementation and design phase of one of ACC’s key programmes of work.

This role will focus on partnering with Māori to identify how we can ensure the needs of Māori are met within the programme. This will be achieved through building relationships with our Māori partners and their participation in design activity throughout the entirety of implementation.

This role will work in the implementation team to ensure Māori views are effectively represented, Kaupapa Māori approaches are effectively adopted, and desired Māori outcomes are understood, ensuring we deliver on the commitment to take a nothing about Māori, without Māori, approach to how we work.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Plan and lead Māori engagement activity for the implementation programme
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with iwi, hapū, Kaupapa Māori entities, Boards and Advisory groups
- Establish and support key relationships with Māori stakeholders to support the design, implementation and monitoring of the programme ensuring it will deliver positive outcomes for Māori
- Guide the Programme on tikanga and engagement protocols when engaging with Māori to ensure cultural safety, and appropriate and responsive engagement activity
- Bring the voice of our Māori partners back to the programme to ensure we understand and are delivering to the needs of Māori
- Support and champion kanohi ki te kanohi and whakawhanaungatanga allowing for regional tikanga and kawa
- Source and use Māori data, insights, analysis, and research to influence NZIIS design for positive Māori outcomes

**What we are looking for from you to be successful in this role**:

- Demonstrated experience in Māori engagement including established networks in Māori communities and entities, with an ability to work collaboratively at a senior level
- A sound understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori with a deep understanding of Māori culture, values, political and social systems
- Demonstrated understanding of mātauranga Māori including an understanding of Kaupapa Māori approaches
- A proven track record in successful partnering to support improved outcomes for Māori
- Experience of supporting co-design of services for Māori
