He angitutanga: The opportunityTe Kaunihera o Tamaki Makaurau has an exciting opportunity to join the Maori Outcomes team in our Parks & Community Facilities department.A strategic role that focuses on developing and implementing policies that align with Maori values, ensuring that community leasing practices respect and uphold Maori rights and interests.It's a great opportunity, where you'll work with the lease and land advisory teams, and holding an overview of the leasing portfolio, you'll assess its contribution to Maori Outcomes and provide advice on process and programme improvement.The mahi you do will lead the work programme that delivers positive impact for Maori including leases for Marae, Kura and Te Kohanga Reo in Tamaki Makaurau.Your contribution of matauranga Maori will be supported to drive a kaupapa Maori approach (you are encouraged to bring your whole self to work and enabled to thrive).Attend and collaborate with council groups Maori outcomes ropu to ensure alignment with overall council and directorates strategic direction towards Maori Outcomes.You can expect to:Develop and maintain an overview of the lease portfolio, and assess its contribution to Kia Ora Tamaki MakaurauManage the identification of suitable occupants of community lease buildingsPrepare and manage lease documentation and the lease renewal processWe're looking for someone who is able to provide professional advice and assistance on matters relating to council owned land and assets including leases on Maunga in Tamaki Makaurau (and/or the impact of activities on them), we'd like to see experience relating to property management of leases as well as a sound understanding of and experience with the Treaty settlement process.You'll understand Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Auckland Council's role and statutory responsibilities.As a confident communicator, you will develop and maintain good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.Knowledge and understanding of te reo, and tikanga Maori is an advantage, as well as being familiar with mana whenua and mataawaka groups in Tamaki Makaurau.You will welcome diversity and contribute to an inclusive working environment where differences are acknowledged and respected.Here at Council, you are regarded for your matauranga Maori, te reo and tikanga Maori skills and awareness and the significant value this brings to our organisation.You won't want to miss this opportunity to make a difference for our people, and our organisation.
