Wellington City, New Zealand ANZ Banking Group Full time

**Req ID**: 62569
**Department**: CFC - Financial Control - New Zealand
**Division**: Enterprise Finance
**Location**: Wellington
Mō te tūranga - About the role

Kia Hanga I Te Ao, E Ora Ai, E Tupu Ai, Te Tangata Me Te Kainga. At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive. We’re making this happen by improving the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our customers so they can achieve incredible things
- whether they’re buying a home, building a business or saving for things big or small.

The Senior External Reporting Specialist is critical to helping us deliver on our purpose. In this role you will join ANZ’s accomplished External Reporting team and will have the opportunity to lean in and support meaningful initiatives across ANZ. This is a senior position within the team and the exposure you will gain from partnering with different functions will enable you to build your own brand, create valuable people connections and accelerate critical skill development.

You will play a critical part in supporting ANZ’s response to increasing compliance and regulator obligations. To do this, you will:
Take the lead and drive External Reporting projects by using a problem-solving approach, balancing conceptual and detailed understanding and providing recommendations based on best practices.

Provide support across all areas of regulatory and financial reporting, primarily in a reviewer capacity but also preparing more complex aspects including regulatory returns to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Group reporting and financial statement notes to ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.

Build relationships and work across the business striving for pragmatic solutions, all while becoming the ‘go to person’ for ongoing regulatory and other third-party queries, both externally and internally.

Collaboratively assist with the review of New Zealand subsidiaries financial statements, including coordinating across different teams to ensure high quality standards are met and timely delivery.

Prepare and lead analysis on upcoming regulatory and accounting standard changes to drive positive outcomes for the bank’s external reporting and in compliance with ANZ Finance policy.

**Role Location**: Wellington

**Role Type**: Permanent, Fulltime

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

This is not a ‘traditional’ Accountant role You are someone who enjoys a challenge, is always proactive and looks for ways to improve and simplify how things are done. Reporting directly to the Head of External Reporting, to grow and be successful in this role you will ideally bring the following:
Proven previous experience working in Finance roles, specifically including time in the Banking industry in a senior role.

Demonstrated experience in regulatory reporting and financial accounting.

A detail oriented, curious, and pragmatic problem-solving mindset; with the ability to make sound judgements with clear and concise verbal and written communication.

Excellent and effective time management skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure within various constraints.

Advanced MS-Excel skills; some understanding of, and experience with, database queries (SQL, SAS ideal).

Excellent planning, co-ordinating and prioritisation skills; strong initiative and proactive attitude to meet commitments and undertake additional responsibilities that add value.

Sound knowledge of IFRS.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of the bank.

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.

He aha te take e uru ai koe ki a mātou? - So, why join us?

There’s something special about being part of ANZ. From the moment you join us, you’re part of a team working towards a common goal: improving the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

But it’s not just our customers who’ll feel your impact. You’ll feel it too. Because at ANZ, you’ll have the resources and community you need to take the next big step in your career, towards even bigger things in the future.

We offer a range of benefits tailored to the countries in which we operate including Health and Wellbeing programs and flexible working arrangements.
