Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
The Senior Commercial Lead - Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) is accountable for proactively managing and monitoring the IAF Agreements in relation to the delivery of significant infrastructure projects, which will enable much-needed housing outcomes. This will involve leading engagement and building relationships with senior representatives of councils, developers, other government agencies and other relevant stakeholders to drive delivery and achievement of key milestones in a collaborative and positive manner. A key part of this role is to keep up the momentum of delivery, and identify and facilitate solutions when roadblocks or issues are encountered.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring
- Tertiary qualification of direct relevance to the role (Finance, Business, Property). The Senior Commercial Leads are expected to have complementary skills, so that across the team they can cover the wide range of skills and experience needed to conduct the role and provide support to one another to understand the highly complex and multifaceted housing developments, involving a large number of parties and stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of the various aspects of large-scale property developments - planning, funding and finance, infrastructure requirements and housing (both greenfield and brownfield).
- Experience with large and complex projects, a strong commercial acumen.
- Proven ability to manage the provision of legal agreements.
- Proven experience in leading a small team or proven ability to lead, coach and mentor others. Demonstrated innovation in creating, facilitating and negotiating solutions to the many and varied hurdles which major housing developments can expect to encounter.
- Proven experience in balancing government requirements and commercial imperatives.
- Ability to manoeuvre comfortably through complex processes and government requirements to achieve the desired outcome for complex, sensitive or risky programme deliverables.
- Sensitivity to how people and organisations function, ability to deal comfortably with organisational politics and anticipate landmines and to plan approaches accordingly.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective senior level relationships with key partners, including iwi.
- Experience working closely within a relatively small team to drive successful outcomes.
- Experience in monitoring and overseeing funding arrangements with local authorities and landowners/ developers to pay for the infrastructure projects required to support housing developments. Ability to make decisions and balance all possible options, either by combining analysis, creativity, and realism to choose the appropriate action or plan.
- Ability to oversee numerous projects at varying stages concurrently.
- Ability to identify and manage risks in a political setting.
- Possess strong oral and written skills and experience in preparing reports, and the ability to correspond with colleagues and stakeholders effectively.
- Experience with public sector structure, governance, processes and systems.
- Understanding of partnership obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi.
