Solve challenging real-world problems at a Centre of Vocational Excellence.
ConCOVE is the national Centre of Vocational Excellence for the Construction and Infrastructure industries. ConCOVE connects and aligns industry, learners, and vocational education to re-imagine clear, equitable and supported career pathways within the Construction and Infrastructure sector. Hosted by Manukau Institute of Technology (within Te Pūkenga), ConCOVE operates under its own brand and with a high level of independence as directed by its Board.
The Deputy Director Academic is a unique, high-profile opportunity. It will provide academic leadership to a team of Project Leads responsible for five complex research projects. A key focus will be overseeing this applied research and ensuring that the projects are designed, delivered and quality assured in accordance with best practice, cultural relevance and safety, and ethical standards. This opportunity will showcase your demonstrated track record of leading multiple applied research projects, often in parallel, through to successful and world-class conclusions.
Proven leadership, mentorship, and expertise across a range of cultural epistemologies and quantitative and qualitative research methods will ensure that the project team develops excellent applied research capabilities and project management skills, producing excellent outputs and outcomes. This role will deputise for the Executive Director on a needs basis.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and quality assurance of applied research projects in accordance with best practice.
- Developing and coaching project teams to develop excellent applied research capabilities.
- Ensuring as projects progress and evolve they remain aligned to their contractual obligations (including mission and deliverables) and are designed to improve outcomes for Māori, Pasifika, and Women in the industries, and are conducted in genuine partnership with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Assisting the Executive Director to ensure that each project is resourced with the appropriate skills and capabilities, financial resources, and time allocations.
This opportunity will utilise your hands-on approach and strong interpersonal skills, partnering with various industry leaders and stakeholders. Working alongside the project teams, you will be a calming influence during times of pressure, encouraging enthusiasm for sharing and receiving ideas and collaborative work practices.
