At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

Mātau rōpū ake - About our ministry, group, and team
Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate supports the wider organisation. We are responsible for delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions. We provide essential services such as governance, organisational strategy, communications, facilities, legal, finance, procurement, ministerial reporting and people capability to the organisation.
The Change team within Te Pou Rangatōpū helps leaders and their teams to manage change well. We focus on the people side of change and provide change management support for significant programmes and projects that impact across the Ministry.

As a Change Specialist you'll play a key role in the change management activities, leading on less complex initiatives by developing, planning, and delivering change management interventions geared to deliver sustainable change and enable equitable, measurable outcomes. The Change Specialist role is a great opportunity to deepen your change management experience and skills across the end-to-end change process in a supportive environment.

Mōhou ake - About you
You are a change champion with a passion for finding new ways to do things better. You are excited by the opportunities that can be realised through putting people first, new technologies, and building a collaborative and supportive work culture. You know how to instil excitement in others, and you have the strong communication skills and empathy needed to guide people through challenging transitions.
- Either a change management practitioner with experience leading or supporting business change initiatives and with an interest in developing your change skills further
- Or a capable operational or people leader interested in becoming a change management professional
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- Experience leading and managing change effectively
- A clear focus on people and providing people-centred services
- A working knowledge of change techniques and approaches
- Demonstrable experience working successfully with a range of stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

You'll work with senior leaders and their teams on varied projects and programmes, supporting design, development and implementation of change management interventions.
