**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

The Principal Advisor (Equity) supports the Manager, Integration and Oversight, with a particular focus on Equity, contributing thought leadership and expertise to strategic priorities, work programmes and complex system issues to support the achievement of outcomes aligned to the Ministry's purpose and agreed strategies.

You will lead the provision of specialised work across a range of programmes and services designed to achieve the successful implementation of new initiatives and change to support our front-line Te Mahau teams. Maintaining a national overview of the activities being delivered and providing guidance, support and improvements to ensure the delivery of high-quality programmes and services. This role will be embedded in ensuring we take practical actions with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and understanding the systemic impacts of inequities with priority populations (i.e. rural, disability, Māori, Pasifika and ethnic minorities).

**Mōhou ake | About you**

We are seeking an experienced Principal Advisor to ensure that Equity is at the forefront of sector change and implementation.

You will have knowledge and experience in leading and implementing new initiatives, having previously lead initiatives to address inequities. A robust understanding of working with priority populations will be advantageous.

You are a natural leader and collaborator and have a great track record of achieving results through influence and partnership. You are a strong team player; focused on results, driving greater equity and better education for all.

**Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team**

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
