Senior Lawyer, Wellington - Permanent

**Location**: National Office, Wellington

Put your legal skills and experience to work, helping New Zealanders to be safe, strong and independent.

We are looking for a senior lawyer to join our supportive and cooperative team and provide quality legal services for the Ministry of Social Development.
The focus of this Senior Lawyer role is to provide legal support for the Ministry's Alignment team. This involves advising staff and senior management on the resolution of complex social security problems. You will need excellent statutory interpretation skills and sound knowledge of the Ministry's legislation, policies, practices, and systems.
In MSD Legal, working across teams is encouraged and senior lawyers are expected to develop expertise in the Ministry's broader legal work.

**Our Senior Lawyers must**:

- Build great working relationships
- Provide clear legal advice on complex issues
- Coach, mentor and develop Lawyers
- Support team working
- Hold a current New Zealand practising certificate (or be eligible to hold one)

Remuneration

The Senior Lawyer role has a salary range of $100,014 to $150,022 dependent on experience.
