Permanent Position

Put your legal skills and experience to work, helping New Zealanders to be safe, strong and independent.

We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer to join our supportive and cooperative team and provide quality legal services for the Ministry of Social Development.

About the Role
The initial focus of this role is to work with a senior lawyer to support the Ministry's Alignment team. This advisory role involves collaboratively working on the resolution of complex social security problems. You will need excellent statutory interpretation skills and a desire to understand the Ministry's legislation, policies, practices, and systems.

In MSD Legal, working across teams is encouraged and lawyers are encouraged to develop expertise in the Ministry's broader legal work.

- have post qualification experience and hold a current New Zealand practising certificate (or be eligible to hold one)

Remuneration
The Lawyer role has a salary range of $83,011 to $101,458 dependent on experience.
