Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Provide analytical support services within a $500M p/a programme
- Ensure governance, frameworks, and standards
- Customise dashboards to drive business decisions and early intervention

Bring insights and process improvement in a collaborative environment to support the delivery of projects on the National Grid
Transpower is New Zealand's national grid operator. We have a whole-of-industry view of the electricity sector and operate the system on behalf of New Zealand. Transpower's national grid projects are at the forefront of delivering the change necessary to enable New Zealand to meet its future energy needs; a future as outlined in Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering our Energy Future report.
About the team
Our Grid Delivery division delivers approximately $500M of projects per annum to help enable this future. Read more about what we do here Projects | Transpower
The Project Management Office (PMO) provides support services to the project and programme management community within Grid Delivery and ensures governance, frameworks, and standards are in place and followed. The PMO will ultimately drive to ensure each project is a success while also supporting continuous improvement processes and the production of performance insights for Grid Delivery Projects.
The Opportunity
You'll support the PMO Function and work alongside your manager to provide insights which enable visibility of risks and performance drivers while also supporting process improvement. You will provide useful analysis and insights creating visibility of performance and understanding of the drivers behind performance. Collaborating across business functions and stakeholders, you will assist in the facilitation and alignment of desired project outcomes.
A number of system and process changes have been introduced into the project landscape and our PMO has been instrumental in implementing these changes and developing reports to provide new insight into the performance of Grid Delivery projects.
The next steps are to refine these reports and, via customised dashboards and consumer education, turn the data into useful and succinct information which drives business decisions and early warning of any necessary course correction activity.
You'll continue to bed-in consistent use of the recently introduced tools and be instrumental in refining the performance metrics for the business. You'll help inspire change to improve the agreed metrics.
What will you bring?
Experience handling complex data, exposure/familiarity to a wide variety of analysis tools, and outstanding prioritisation skills. You'll self-direct and "value add" to data, whilst taking ownership of various initiatives acting as the leader/manager when required. A good understanding of process improvement is required to help manage change to ensure success.
Your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate.
- 5+ years' experience analysing complex data and converting it into user friendly insights.
- Proven process improvement experience
- You have operated at the senior/trusted expert level with extensive experience analysing and providing insight into both data (from medium to large complex data sets) and processes.
- A high degree of proficiency with a variety of data systems and tools with Power BI skills highly desirable.
- Experience working with systems, data, data tools, and end users to understand how the data is created and how it can best be presented to provide meaningful insight to end users which drives decision making and performance improvement activities.
- Experience in driving process improvement and embedding change.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with, corral, and influence a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels to understand the why and drive performance.

Importantly, you'll be self-motivated and self-managing with previous experience/examples of having taken the initiative and ownership for ensuring outcomes are delivered.
Coaching and mentoring experience, while not essential, is advantageous, as is the ability to relate at a technical level with IT.
Why should you join us?
Our business is exciting The scale, criticality, and complexity of our environment is stimulating and challenging, and the work is meaningful. An equal opportunity employer, we value the diversity of thought that comes from our people of over 28 nationalities.
Next steps
Applications close Tuesday 27th February 2022 and will be reviewed and may be progressed as received.
Existing eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
