Mō te tūnga | About the role
Tamaki Makaurau is the identity for the three Police Districts in Auckland. It represents the intent to draw together the collective capability of these districts, together with other Police groups that operate across Tamaki Makaurau. The Performance Group supports the service delivery of these Districts and groups by providing key information and analysis at regular intervals that supports decision making and provides direction. In addition, the Performance Group also plays a vital role in relation to information management as well as project support, both of which are important aspects of the role.
This is a rewarding position that will research, develop, and maintain an overview of the performance environment, construct and develop information products and services, and provide internal and external reporting and communication that support Police strategies and improve performance. As part of a team, this is a busy role that at times requires the construction of innovative solutions to complex matters. The Performance Group takes pride in providing high standards of service to stakeholders and an applicant who can demonstrate initiative would be a perfect fit. This position works alongside two other analysts and reports to the Performance Manager.
The Performance Group is based in Otahuhu. Some flexibility in the start time of the working day is likely to be possible.
**Position Requirements**:
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a Performance Analyst, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Performance Advisor - or similar type roles.
- Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Excel (including Power Query & Power Pivot, and/or Power BI). While not essential, it is also highly desirable to have experience using SAP Business Objects, as well as SAS Visual Analytics, and Qlik.
- Ability to work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong skills and experience in critical thinking, including problem solving, data and information analysis, and the ability to interpret a wide range of information types.
- Experience in producing reports and visual material that is clear, concise, relevant, and insightful.
- Ability to create innovative ideas and solutions, including the ability to anticipate organisational information needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Confidently and effectively deliver informative presentations face-to-face.
- Comfortable engaging with all levels of the organisation, making complex information easy to understand, and having the ability to build lasting relationships.
- Commitment to excellence.
- Service-oriented mindset.
**Special Requirements - shortlisted applicants**:
- Short-listed applicants will be provided a data set at least one week prior to interview, requiring basic analysis, and the construction of a brief PowerPoint presentation summarising their analytical findings, to be presented at interview. Both the analysis, and the presentation itself, are important aspects to assessing applicant suitability.
- 2 x 30-minute assessments may be required of short-listed applicants at the conclusion of the interview. These assess Excel proficiency and problem-solving ability.
He aha taau e kawe mai | What you’ll bring
Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.
- Drivers Licence required (Full - Car).
- Applicants need to be committed to the Values of the New Zealand Police: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Commitment to Mäori and the Treaty, Empathy, and Valuing diversity.
