**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have an available opportunity to join the Te Manawa Taki Region, Planning, Policy and Performance team as a **Policy and Equity Advisor.**
This permanent, full-time role will see the individual provide support to the policy work taking place across the region - utilising their knowledge on health equity to facilitate inter-agency and interdisciplinary. This will include supporting policy analysis and development across a broad range of areas and collaborating with stakeholders across the health system and sector, working to deliver strategic objectives and give effect to Pae Ora. The role can be located across the Te Manawa Taki region, including: New Plymouth, Kirikiriroa, Rotorua, Tauranga, Whakatane, or Tairawhiti.
**Mōu | About you**
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Has a minimum of 2-3 years' relevant experience in health or public sector/local government policy
- A Bachelors qualification or equivalent experience. A qualification in Public Health or Public Policy and/or project management certification is desirable but not essential.
- Understanding and experience working in partnership with iwi/ hapū, Māori, Pacific communities or other vulnerable groups.
