As proud Kiwi based business, our client has produced over 3500+ products to the vitamin and supplement markets since their inception into the market more than 30 years ago.
Now bursting at the seams, their Supply Chain and Procurement team needs help. With growing export markets and contract manufacturers also covering the additional load, they are seeking a Purchasing Officer to join the team to help spread the load.
**A few key aspects of the role**:
- Supplier Management: engage with reliable suppliers of raw materials and packaging components.
- Procurement: Coordinate and execute the procurement process for raw materials, packaging, and other necessary items in accordance with production schedules and inventory requirements.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock levels to minimize excess or insufficient supplies. Work closely with the inventory team to maintain accurate records and update the ERP system regularly.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure all purchased materials meet the company's quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and certifications.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, or supplier reliability, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and sales, to understand their requirements and align purchasing strategies with company goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in the purchasing and supply chain management processes.
**What we're looking for from you**:
- Ideally a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or in a similar procurement role within a GMP manufacturing industry (food, health, pharma, dairy etc.).
- Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and inventory control.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to the industry.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and other procurement software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to address challenges and make data-driven decisions.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to meet changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
