Working as part of our Māori and Pacific team and the wider Career Development and Employability Services (CDES) team, this is a crucial role to engage Tauira Māori from first year to final year, with our Māori and Pacific employability programme, Te Haerenga / (The Journey) which is underpinned on the values of:
**Whanaungatanga** (building connections, strengthening community ties)

**Manaakitanga** (encouraging, supporting)

**Maia **(being brave, capable, confident)

**Whakamana** (affirming, enabling, empowering)

This role will see you work with our tauira Māori across all faculties and year levels with a focus on student’s cultural identity, building confidence, self-responsibility, and an understanding of the value that their cultural capital and unique story hold in the workplace. This is a rewarding role; you will play a huge part in empowering and positively influencing tauira Maori across here at the University of Auckland.

As a proactive, energetic and highly collaborative member of our CDES team, you will also contribute to wider career initiatives and programmes of work, across a student body with diversity in age, ethnicity and courses of study.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to broaden your experience and career development skills and be part of a strengths-based, values-led team who are committed to continuous learning.

The role is 37.5 hours per week. The salary is $66,600 - $82,200 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

**Qualifications**:
**He kōrero mōu | About you**

In order to thrive in this role, you’ll enjoy connecting with and growing peoples’ skills and confidence, either 1:1 or in groups, facilitating and leading workshops and career events.

You’ll also like the challenge of coordinating/hosting events that connect Tauira to alumni, employers and community partners: empowering them to connect their study to their future direction and confidently transition from study to work which creates positive impact in their communities.

**Essential**
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the career development, self-development or employability needs of Tauira Māori (or a similar experience/role)
- Familiarity and confidence with Te Ao Māori, Te Reo, and Tikanga
- A high level of interpersonal skills - able to build genuine connections with students and staff
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing collaboratively as a member of the wider careers team.
- Ability to lead and project manage/organise events from start to completion.
- Confidence in dealing with a variety of tasks under pressure; demonstrated patience and resilience in a complex work environment.
- Tertiary qualification in the following areas: careers & employability, education, counselling, HR or equivalent discipline.
