We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic kaimahi who have a passion for supporting Māori and whānau on their smoke-free journey.

**Ko wai matou: Who we are**

The Smokefree Service for Waitamata is a dynamic and diverse team, which sits within the National Public Health Service

The aim of the Smokefree team is to support tangata whai i te ora residing in the Waitematā region to achieve their Smokefree goals in accordance with the Smokefree Aotearoa 2025 Action Plan.

**He angitutanga: The opportunity**

This is an exciting opportunity to become** a full time Smokefree Practitioner** and work in a supportive team and environment working towards preventing and reducing the many harms of smoking with a focus on Maori.

You will work in partnership with stakeholders and contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of systems and practices to support tangata whai I te ora to access high-quality evidence-based smoke-free services across our hospitals in Waitemata.

**He korero mou: What we are looking for**

We are looking for motivated kaimahi who are proficient at engaging with Māori and their whānau and are able to advocate for processes that will enhance Māori health gain. Smoking cessation experience would be beneficial, however more important is the ability to learn and develop in this regard, as full training will be provided. Your ideal attributes will include being a team player with great collaboration skills as well as the ability to work autonomously and a strong desire to achieve the best health outcomes for the community.

**Essential**:

- Recognised health or related tertiary qualification
- Previous experience working with Maori
- Knowledge of population health issues
- Training/education related to behavioural change or addiction

**Desired**:

- Ability to converse in Te Reo Maori
- Smoking cessation experience or ability to learn and develop
- Experience in a clinical setting - community, primary or secondary
