Mō te tūnga | About the role
NZDF has a team of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Advisors (SAPRAs) who work from the Bases and Camps across New Zealand. The role has responsibility for supporting NZDF's commitment to reducing incidents of harmful sexual behaviour (HSB) and providing a safe and person centred response to NZDF members who experience harmful sexual behaviour.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Facilitating training and education around sexual ethics and respectful relationships.
- Managing case by case response activities within the region and engaging with affected parties.
- Developing plans, mitigations and managing risk to effectively advise.
- Building effective and trusted working relationships and encouraging open dialogue.
- Contribute to NZDF's developing prevention initiatives.

This role is primarily based at Trentham Military Camp, but you will also travel around the Wellington region and be available to support after-hours requests as a part of an on-call roster. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there may be the option of working from home at times.

You will be courageous to engage across a military organisation, understand the complexities and environmental factors and be able to effectively advocate and partner with all levels of the organisation. You will have a strong victim-centric focus with an ability to tailor requirements, recommendations and messages to best suit the situation.

**You will also have**:

- Proven facilitation experience to deliver training and education effectively.
- Case management experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to reason and influence.
- Ideally, you will have work experience in the sexual violence sector, or an ability to be able talk openly about harmful sexual behaviour in a considerate manner.

- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
- You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
