**Software Consultant - Core Banking**

The Transactional Banking Platform is the heart of the bank providing all the batch and online/real-time transactional services. Within our platform we have several squads maintaining and supporting our Core Banking services.

**About the role**:
We are seeking a technical lead with specialised experience in Core Banking to be part of our team creating APIs to integrate our Core Banking platform with the rest of the bank's systems.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Design and Technical Accountability
- Help deliver enterprise-scale programmes of work, all the way to production, helping manage technical risks and impediments.
- Provide guidance and thought leadership across the squads, facilitating effective and innovative design solutions
- Oversee design aspects to ensure a cohesive integration of new technologies and methodologies within existing systems and alignment to our Transformation journey.

Technical Expertise in Core Banking
- Demonstrate technical knowledge in Core Banking technologies, including but not limited to COBOL-74, BL/Source, WFL, API integration.
- Design, develop and maintain secure, robust solutions focusing on system scalability, reliability and optimal performance.
- Ability to consider the critical nature of roles, permissions and claims in the API landscape
- Provide technical expertise and knowledge to support solution delivery based on a solid understanding of key environments in which ASB's software is deployed and used.
- Understand decisions around what features should be built in line with the needs of the customer. Consider the cost of deployment, upgrades, configuration and documentation during the design and implementation of a feature, and work to keep these costs down.

- Cultivate a positive platform culture, aimed at innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates thought leadership through drawing on experience, analysing the present and illuminating the future to create a comprehensive, unique and impactful view of their area of expertise.

We are looking for an individual that will take ownership of our technical solutions, drive continuous change for ASB, the squad and customers to ensure we are delivering best possible outcomes. - 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
- 5+ years of Detailed Design experience
- 8+ years of Analysis experience
- Designing systems from Business Specifications
- Confident communicator, able to carry out group training and knowledge sharing
- Strong analytical thinker
- Advocate for Agile methodologies to deliver value incrementally
- Experience in API, integration, or engineering governance roles
- A proven ability to assist stakeholders to create and refine user stories for an agile squad
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Experience in

- BL/Source and XGEN
- WFL - Unisys Job-Control Language
- XGEN
- Unisys / ClearPath / MCP (or similar mainframe environment) (required)
- Effectively understanding Cobol transactions and the nuances of API integration
