As well as emergency paramedic care, we provide patient transfer services; have paramedics who are part of the Life Flight crew and rescue squad, plus operate the 111 clinical communications centre for our region. We respond on average to around 57,000 emergency incidents per year.
We consider ourselves to be the best little ambulance service in the world, with an awesome team around 400 staff and over 80 volunteers who cover from Cook Strait to just north of Waikanae on the Kapiti Coast, and across to Mt Bruce in the Wairarapa. The role
As a Fleet Manager at Wellington Free Ambulance, your role will be to manage the fleet from beginning to end. This includes the introduction of new vehicles, management the repair and maintenance of existing fleet and disposing of end-of life vehicles. You will also be responsible for the management of four staff members within the Fleet team.
**Specific duties of your role will include**:
Procurement across all fleet for fit for purpose, safe and cost effective vehicles that minimise out carbon footprint
Oversight and monitoring of fleet operations for compliance with NZ laws and regulations
Ongoing developing and management of a fleet strategy for Wellington Free Ambulance
Fleet planning and review to maintain optimal fleet numbers
Day to day management of the Fleet team

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced Manager from a Mechanical service and repair environment with a relevant trade certificate/Diploma. Ideally you will have experience working on light commercial vehicles.
As a Manager, you will have the ability build relationships quickly and gain the confidence and trust of others easily. You will have a strong focus on achieving results and fostering a culture of teamwork, open communication and continuous improvement.
COVID-19 vaccination WFA’s COVID-19 risk assessment has determined that we require all staff to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to commencing work with WFA. It remains a condition of your ongoing employment to maintain your vaccination status, which may include booster or additional vaccinations as required.
