Position Title: North Golf Executive Officer Date: October 2024 Subordinate Positions: Administration Assistant Hours: 40 hours/week.
This will include some out of hours and weekend work as required.
Strategic Summary The EO is responsible for providing strategic leadership for North Golf by working with the Executive Board to establish long-term goals, strategies, plans, and policies to drive the success of golf in the region.
Core Purpose: “Driving Golf in the North”North Golf has three key strategic objectives that guide how we strive to ‘Empower Golf Clubs in the North Golf Region.”Club Capability Leadership and Operational.

Duties and Responsibilities Primary Purpose To engage with golf clubs and assist their capability where required so they can meet the needs of their members from grassroots level through to representative level.
Key Tasks Administration and Communication Be the spokesperson and representative for North Golf in key external communications Ensure the association complies with all legislative, legal and statutory requirements Ensure the accurate maintenance, secure documentation, and storage of all association records Oversee and assist in developing the North Golf Communication channels including website, social media and EDMs.
Planning and Reporting Lead the development and execution of the strategic plan and ensure that all operations align with the organization’s vision and long-term goals Provide strategic oversight for the management and scheduling of the North Golf calendar, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication to clubs and stakeholders Lead the annual surveying of clubs and stakeholders to gather insights, analyze feedback, and implement actionable improvements that enhance overall engagement and participation.
Event Management Work closely with key stakeholders to maximize exposure and participation in tournaments and events Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the planning, implementation, and management of all key North Golf tournaments and pennant competitions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and delivering exceptional experiences for participants and stakeholders Lead the development and implementation of innovative tournaments and events that align with North Golf's strategic initiatives, enhancing participation and engagement within the community.
Staff and Contractor Management Develop a high-performing organizational culture that supports professional growth and maximizes team performance Ensure management of North Golf staff and contractors, including performance appraisals are completed to ensure deadlines and targets are being met.
Development and Representative Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including clubs, regional councils, sponsors, and Golf NZ, to promote development and increase representation Oversee the development and management of the association's coaching and development programmes Oversee the management of the association’s representative programme.
Finance Drive the financial sustainability of North Golf by implementing strategic budget planning, optimizing resource allocation, and identifying new revenue streams Develop and oversee the annual budget, ensuring adherence to financial procedures and compliance with all regulatory requirements Cultivate and expand sponsorship relationships to maximize commercial opportunities and enhance organizational visibility Lead the preparation and submission of grant funding applications, ensuring compliance obligations are met in a timely and accurate manner Collaborate closely with the Executive Committee to identify and pursue funding, sponsorship, and investment opportunities that align with North Golf’s strategic objectives.
Executive Committee Engagement The EO is responsible for keeping the Executive Committee informed of key developments and any issues that could affect the strategic direction of North Golf The EO must regularly provide reporting to the Executive Committee on progress towards strategic objectives and operational challenges Other tasks as appropriate and directed by the Chairman.
