About the job
This position offers the chance to combine active project delivery with strategic leadership and business growth.
You’ll be part of a supportive, highly skilled national team that values initiative, collaboration, and strong professional relationships.
Your initial focus will centre on high‑quality planning and consent processing, work that keeps our clients’ projects moving and builds your understanding of regional opportunities.
From there, you’ll help drive business growth, nurturing relationships and leading projects that shape the region’s built and natural environment.
We’re looking for someone commercially aware but community‑mindful, a confident planner who’s ready to use their relationships, judgement, and energy to continue to grow something positive and lasting.
In this role you will:
Deliver robust planning and consent outcomes across Northland and Auckland.
Build and deepen relationships with clients, councils, and partners.
Identify and pursue new opportunities through professional and community networks.
Contribute to planning initiatives in energy, infrastructure, and development.
Mentor and support colleagues as our local reach grows.
Access mentoring, learning, and support from a nationally connected planning network.
Work with autonomy and trust, supported by a collaborative team culture.
About you
If you're ready to take the next step in your planning career and play a key role in shaping the future of our regions and local communities, this opportunity is for you.
We're keen to hear from experienced planners with diverse backgrounds who are business minded and excited about leadership, growth, and making a meaningful impact.
You will stand out to us if you have the following
6+ years of planning experience (10+ as Principal) with a strong understanding of the Resource Management Act (RMA), planning policy, and consenting processes.
A strong network and excellent relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders, iwi, and councils.
Proven experience in preparing and reviewing resource consent applications, policy submissions, and assessments of environmental effects (AEE’s).
Strong technical knowledge of planning legislation and frameworks, including the RMA, National Policy Statements, and relevant district and regional plans.
A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
Experience in a consultancy environment is advantageous, as is a relevant tertiary qualification in planning, environmental management, or a related discipline.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
A collaborative approach, with a willingness to support colleagues, provide peer review, and contribute to multi‑disciplinary project teams.
With a variety of projects constantly on the go, you’ll be a team player and happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
You are accountable and take responsibility for your contribution within a multi‑team project delivery.
Building strong relationships and working collaboratively will be second nature to you.
What's in it for you?

Join a top‑tier consultancy that values its people, business acumen and strategic thinking.
Work with our leadership and apply these skills to influence the way our business grows in the Northland market and the businesses we partner with.
Enjoy a competitive remuneration package, health insurance after one year and learning and development opportunities.
