Mō te mahi | About the role: Te Pou Matihiko – the Chief Digital Officer is a newly created role which has two key responsibilities, to drive the Archive’s digital capability and to oversee the delivery of technology and data related systems and services.
The role is instrumental to enable Ngā Taonga to develop a digital and data ecosystem that is responsive not only to the organisation’s needs but also to a rapidly changing technology environment.
The Chief Digital Officer leads the Digital Preservation and Technology Group and collaborates across Ngā Taonga ensuring services are designed and delivered in a way that is grounded in archival principles and cognisant of the charitable trust status of Ngā Taonga.
Ko ngā whāinga o te tūranga: | The role will see you: Drive the Archive’s digital capability in preservation, discoverability and access Oversee delivery of vital technology and data related systems and services Develop and deliver a digital and data strategy and roadmap for the Archive Lead the Digital Preservation and Technology Group Ko ngā pūkenga e hiahiatia ana | About you You are a creative leader with a proven track record in digital transformation and strategy.
You will have experience in: Leadership and Strategy: Proven senior leadership experience in digital strategy, design, and delivery, driving enterprise-wide transformations and aligning strategies with organisational goals.
Performance and Culture: Demonstrated ability to create a performance-driven culture with high accountability and consistent results.
Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
(Experience within the GLAM sector may be beneficial, but not essential.)Visionary and Collaborative Leadership: Ability to lead decisively, rally teams through challenging situations, and manage stakeholders in dynamic environments to ensure alignment with Ngā Taonga’s objectives.
Project and Operational Management: Proficient in strategic project leadership and governance, managing high-performing teams, vendor relationships, and operational models.
(Knowledge of archival collections management systems beneficial, but not essential.)Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptability: Understanding and valuing the role of mātauranga Māori, demonstrating cultural awareness, and bringing innovative ideas to leverage technology for business and stakeholder needs.
Balancing Tradition and Modernisation: Expertise in modernising organisations while preserving and respecting tradition and history, ensuring a seamless integration of new technologies with historical preservation.
