The role

The Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) are seeking an Intelligence Services Advisor to join our busy team.

Our Intelligence Services Advisors provide specialist guidance and assistance to New Zealand government customers, enabling them to make full and compliant use of intelligence information provided by the GCSB. You will contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures.

  3. Successfully engage with stakeholders; providing a high standard of customer service.
  4. Have an appreciation of current international political, economic and security affairs and a broad understanding of New Zealand's role and interest in them.
  5. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

Having relevant experience in the intelligence and security sector, preferably with good exposure to intelligence products and services would be an advantage.

Appointing range:

Level 1: $73,684 - $78,596
Level 2: $87,048 - $92,851

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  1. Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

  1. Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.

Salary Band F $73,684 (90%) - $94,152 (115%), Band G $87,048 (90%) - $111,228 (115%)
Midpoint of the salary range (100%) reflects full competence in the role.
