Watercare, the largest water and wastewater utility in New Zealand, delivers more than 400 million litres of water to Auckland every day. This position plays a pivotal role in the future of Auckland's water supply infrastructure

Reporting to the Head of Water Planning, you will be developing and implementing water resource planning strategies to align with future water demand. This will involve leading activities, initiatives, and projects related to source water and water operations.

You will contribute to research and development in the water management space, engaging with the community, industry, and Iwi. You will leverage key relationships with regulatory and governing bodies to influence outcomes and share Watercare's direction.

This role will explore and implement alternative water solutions to reduce demand on the water supply network and ensure sustainable water use. You will work on identifying and developing future water sources, including purified recycled water and desalination, to meet the growing water demand and address the impacts of climate change.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in science, engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in science, engineering or a compliance related field.
  • Knowledge of water quality guidelines and regulations within NZ.
  • Process knowledge related to water/wastewater treatment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally, with a strong collaborative spirit.
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to present to groups.
