Pocket Square is one of Australasia's most experienced Shopify Partners, helping brands scale, optimise operations, and drive growth. Our expert team of strategists, designers, and developers know Shopify inside and out, delivering high-impact solutions for mid-market and enterprise businesses.
To continue our growth, we're looking for a Business Development Manager to work closely with the Managing Director to drive sales, manage inbound leads, and nurture new opportunities—both from prospective clients and existing accounts.
Your Role
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for expanding our client base, refining our sales processes, and contributing to overall revenue growth. You'll collaborate with leadership, strategy, and project teams to convert B2B and B2C businesses looking for an agency partner to help them realise their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building a strong pipeline of qualified leads.
- Manage inbound sales enquiries and nurture prospective clients through the sales funnel.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to attract mid-market and enterprise brands looking to optimise or migrate to Shopify.
- Leverage outbound and inbound sales techniques, including networking, cold outreach, partnerships, and referrals.
- Optimise and refine sales processes to ensure efficiency and alignment with business goals.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Understand potential clients' needs and challenges, positioning Pocket Square as their ideal Shopify partner.
- Working with potential clients to identify the most suitable engagement style that will allow Pocket Square to meet their requirements and exceed their expectations.
- Deliver engaging sales presentations, proposals, and pitches to secure new business.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve messaging, lead nurturing, and conversion rates.
Revenue Growth & Performance Tracking
- Set and track key sales metrics, including revenue targets, conversion rates, and pipeline health.
- Continuously refine sales approaches based on data-driven insights and industry trends.
- Work closely with leadership to forecast sales and contribute to overall business strategy.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in sales or business development, ideally within an eCommerce agency, SaaS, or Shopify ecosystem.
- Proven track record of hitting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of Shopify and the broader eCommerce landscape.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a consultative sales approach.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and manage relationships with C-level decision-makers.
- Experience with CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot, Zendesk Sell) and sales automation platforms.
- Self-motivated, strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.
