About the Role

The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin. OurIDS comprises of three parts, Ward 10a – a 12 bed inpatient service, Helensburgh Cottage – a 4 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and the Community Liaison Team.

As a Mental Health Care Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
  • Patient cares, as required
  • Ward maintenance
  • Patient watch/supervision, with one-on-one care as required
