Mō te tūnga | About the role
Integrated Safety Response (ISR) is a multi-agency initiative ensuring families experiencing family violence get the help they need from Government and community services. ISR involves core agencies working closely together to support victims, perpetrators and their families. ISR operates in two locations, Christchurch and Hamilton.
Police is the operational lead and hosting agency for ISR, as part of Te Puna Aonui, the Interdepartmental Executive Board for the Elimination of Family Violence and Sexual Violence.
ISR operates seven days a week, so flexibility is required as you may be required to work some weekends and statutory holidays.
In this role you will manage 1 direct report and have oversight of a wider team of approximately 10 staff. You will develop and implement the strategic aspects of a multi-agency programme. An excellent team ethos, exceptional communication skills, the ability to influence and drive strategy and a passion for leading and engaging people will see you thriving in this role
Key Accountabilities:
The purpose of leadership in this role is to lead strategic priorities for ISR and enable our people to deliver the strategy.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Lead the strategic direction of ISR, with support from local ISR partners and the National ISR team.
- Ensure ISR's strategy aligns with the broader context of the Government's aims to eliminate family violence.
- Represent the ISR model to the public sector and governance.
- Create and continually develop an environment which encourages teamwork, service, Māori responsiveness, community partnership and problem solving.
- Influence the community and support change in complex environments.
Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.
- Developing, assessing, and implementing strategy.
- Leading teams, including coaching and mentoring, performance management, and achieving continuous improvement.
- Developing positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implementing continuous improvement of practices and processes.
- Coordinating or managing cross-sectoral or multi-disciplinary teams.
- Previous experience managing budgets.
This role is set at Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is "to lead tactics for Our Business and enable people to deliver them".
New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for preventing crime and enhancing community safety. It works in partnership with individuals, communities, businesses, and other public sector agencies towards the vision of making New Zealand the safest country. Police is the government's largest front-line response agency with around 15,000 staff in large and small communities all over New Zealand and in liaison and policing development roles overseas.
Your development is highly valued at NZ Police. Our employees enjoy significant investment in their development not only at an individual level, but also at the team and community practice level. We work hard to match you with work that will both play to your strengths and challenge you in new ways.
The work you'll be engaged in is real, tangible work that directly benefits our frontline and communities. Taken all together, this means we can offer you career path opportunities to progress in your chosen profession and become a more well-rounded, experienced leader, with opportunities across the range of work we support.
