About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist - Animal Health to join our Research and Development group that has a reputation for innovation. Customer success and sustainability requires products and services developed with a rigorous science focus to ensure our products have quantifiable benefits for customers. The Research and Development (R&D) Group develops these technologies and systems for LIC. This is a fixed term role covering parental leave.

Your role is responsible for creating opportunities for the world's leading dairy farmers through technically sound and innovative research. Your key focus would include:

  1. Performing statistical analysis/modelling utilising diagnostic results and animal data (MINDA) to investigate the impact of disease on NZ dairy farms.
  2. Advise and support the R&D animal health team with statistical methodologies/data analytics.
  3. Communicate well with external stakeholders, farmers and vets.
About you

As a seasoned professional, you'll display the following attributes:

  1. An MSc or PhD in data analytics, with diagnostics/epidemiology experience.
  2. Knowledge of the dairy industry preferable.
  3. Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.
  4. Great interpersonal skills in communication with vets and farmers.
  5. Self-starter showing initiative to work independently.

Experience working in a research environment would be an advantage and you will need to be organised and enjoy working across a range of research projects.
