About The Company
Aerowork is a 100% owned subsidiary of Ravensdown Ltd and is engaged in aerial application of fertilisers as an essential service for hill country farming. Our aircraft are fitted with GPS technology for accurate placement of fertiliser enabling our customers to maximise farm productivity whilst reducing the environmental impact.

The company currently has 11 operational aircraft supported by more than 35 Loader trucks capable of loading and spreading different fertilizer types across different regions in NZ. A complete Engineering department maintains aircraft and manufactures specialised aircraft parts.

About The Role
We are looking for a skilled safety professional, experienced and passionate about Health, Safety & Wellbeing to work with our team at Aerowork. The semi-autonomous role sits on the Aerowork Leadership Team and reports directly to the CEO of Aerowork. It plays an integral role in training, developing, and partnering with the team so that health, safety and wellbeing continues to be woven into everything we do.

This role is part of the broader National Ravensdown HS&W team. The successful candidate will need to build effective collaborative relationships with staff onsite and offsite. Note that some travel will be required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be an active part of the Aerowork Leadership team
  • Mentor and coach the site Leadership team and all members of staff
  • Lead and develop projects that will increase HS&W impacts throughout the business
  • Ensure that Aerowork's Safety Management System is aligned with all relevant regulations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable H&S legislation & manage H&S risks and controls associated with our sites
  • Influence and encourage staff to change patterns and behaviours
  • Conduct analysis, monitoring and provide reporting to site Leadership team and the Ravensdown National HS&W Manager as requested
  • Communicate openly and frequently with key related stakeholders
About You
You will be an experienced health, safety and wellbeing professional who can gain credibility with your knowledge, skillset and ability to build sound relationships. You will enjoy working closely with operational managers to solve problems and being the HS&W expert on site, thrive in managing the associated risks of an aviation business. You will work well with the wider HS&W team and be passionate about collaboration and finding opportunities to align across our sites nationally. As this role sits within the aviation industry it is expected that the successful candidate will be an active participant in regulatory and industry initiatives alongside being able to attain and retain "Senior Person" status with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Ideal Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years' experience working full time in a health and safety advisor or business partner role ideally within the aviation industry.
  • Ability to build credibility and influence across all levels of the business.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of current health and safety legislation including relevant CAA and NZTA specific requirements.
  • Problem solving skills and risk assessment experience using data.
  • Risk management/assessment experience
  • Incident investigation experience (preferably with ICAM experience)
  • High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to work successfully on long term projects.
