At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and genuinely understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

  • Taking practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Giving priority to regional and local voice.
  • Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support.
  • Improving feedback loops and information flows.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Events Advisor is an important role within the Organisational Communications team, which sits in the Ministry's Communications, Engagement and Ministerials group.

The purpose of this role is to contribute to and support high-quality events and projects internally and externally, under the guidance of the Principal Events Advisor.

These events may be in person, online or a combination of the two. Occasional travel out of Wellington will be required. This role will also provide some administrative support.

You will be a team player who thrives on working at pace, managing deadlines and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ideally you will also have the following experience and capabilities:

  • Experience in administering or managing events
  • Experience in a large complex organisation
  • Experience in building relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Sound risk assessment, and risk mitigation skills
  • Ability to use discretion, exercise sound judgment and successfully negotiate and influence.
  • Ability to selfmanage and work on multiple projects at once.
  • Sensitivity towards diverse communities and all cultures.
