Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role


Reporting to the Manager Privacy, and situated in the Legal and Privacy Group, you will become part of a small privacy team and work closely with a range of other teams across the Ministry.


You will:

  • Provide expert specialist advice, and support the development of the Ministry's privacy policies and practices.
  • Promote a strong privacy culture by working collaboratively other advisors and senior advisors, managers and their teams to increase understanding of the Privacy Act 2020.
  • Lead and/or contribute to projects and initiatives to improve and lift privacy practices across the Ministry.


This is a new team, forming as a result of organisational change and the role presents a unique opportunity to establish your mark on the privacy culture.

This role is a full-time (37.5hrs per week) permanent position based in the Wellington office.

Some working flexibility is available, and we are open to considering an appointment for less than full time hours and/or variation to working week or fortnight norms.

You will be an experienced advisor who is good with people and who can join with us in delivering our purpose.

Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team


At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
