We are looking for exceptional Train Attendant to join our Palmerston North team to ensure that all our passengers enjoy an outstanding experience while travelling on our services.

You will provide prompt and professional food and beverage service to our customers and ensure they enjoy an exceptional on-board experience.

This includes outstanding care of passengers and onboarding them, handling of luggage and revenue collection, along with other general duties.

You will thrive on the satisfaction of delivering high customer service and exceeding our passengers' expectations.

Other duties:

  • Conduct Food & Beverage stock takes for the Capital Connection commuter service,
  • Prepare stock requests/orders for passenger service trains from station store
- administration support to the customer & crew manager

  • General care & tidiness of the passenger terminal areas (waiting room, offices, toilets etc)
  • Secure the building at end of shift
  • Passenger safety on site
  • Provide cover for the onboard Train attendants when required (cover Leave)

You will also support the Train Manager as required in the operation of the train, including coupling the trains, shunting of rolling stock and performing safety checks.

This is a permanent part-time position working on a rotating roster

To succeed in this role, it is vital that you have a positive, can-do attitude.

You will pride yourself on:

  • Excellent customer service front of house promoting a premium service offering dealing with international tourism
  • Communication verbal and written
  • Time keeping operating to Rail network timetables and schedules
  • Basic MS suite knowledge excel word outlook
  • Revenue collection reconciliations


You must hold a full, clean NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence and if you hold a First Aid Certificate, Food and Hygiene and Liquor License this would be an advantage, though not essential as we can arrange this training if you are successful.


This role can have you lifting heavy loads and spending your shift on your feet, so will need a reasonable level of physical fitness.
