  • The role of the Communications Manager sits within the Office of the Chief Executive, however this role works across the breadth of the organisation and with our core alliances and the community. The team has doers, thinkers, listeners, and analytical types that enjoy the everevolving changes and opportunities within health care.

The role itself:


Reporting to the Chief Executive you will have a work programme and a Communications and Engagement Plan that is aligned to the Strategy with some clear goals in mind.

Our ideal applicant will have proven 'Communication / PR' experience to completely champion our PR processes. Exposure to PR in health would be highly advantageous

  • You will be experienced in handling a variety of situations those good news stories, public complaints, the general media, and know how to organise health related events.
  • Writing, shaping and editing clear communication messages clearly communicating them.
  • The role will capitalise on your ability to work with varied stakeholders senior leaders, internal teams, our partners such as Te Tihi o Ruahine and members of the public.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure THINK Hauora is well placed to maximise communication and educational opportunities
  • Champion our vision of Connecting Communities for Wellbeing
  • Establish and improve messaging across a variety of providers and stakeholders
  • Suggest and plan events / workshops that raise awareness of the THINK Hauora messaging
  • Ensure media plans are in place for key issues and channels are maximised
  • Update and promote the Communication and Engagement Plan
  • Build and maintain good relationships throughout the organisation to ensure we're delivering effective internal communications
  • Produce quality content across a variety of channels to ensure information is clear, timely, accurate and well written
