An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the surgical
cluster Nurse Educator team. You will work within Ward 11.
Ward 11 is
one of our surgical wards at Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury - Christchurch
Hospital which specialises in Otolaryngology, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmology
Surgery. Our role sees us caring for patients that are undergoing both
acute and planned care procedures.
The Nurse Educator facilitates and coordinates
clinical learning activities and nursing professional development programs.
They provide systematic guidance to reduce the gap between nursing theory and
practice and are key to improving the quality of nursing care and enhancing the
patients' level of satisfaction.
You will provide nursing leadership and act as a
resource for both new and experienced staff. Clinical coaching and point of
care learning will be an emphasis of the role. Your skills will include those
of facilitator, change agent, consultant and leader.

Continuing the development of widespread competence
in the nursing team is essential, and it requires a strategic planned approach
to be successful. This role facilitates the progression of current education
resources, as well as the development of future strategic growth. So, if you
are a Registered Nurse with extensive Acute Surgery experience (particularly
Head and Neck with complex airway management) and a passion for quality nursing
we would love to hear from you.
Your broad knowledge and extensive experience will
place you perfectly as an educational resource for the team. This will allow
you to coach and support the clinical learning of the nursing team while promoting
evidence-based practice. You will be supported through close collaboration with
the Nursing Director and the Surgical Senior Nursing team across the wider
cluster and throughout Te Whatu Ora Waitaha. This Nurse Educator role includes
developing and strengthening current education resources and delivery of
programs, as well as supporting individual learning plans.
