We are looking for a strategic leader who is committed to educational equity and raising achievement for learners to make a real difference at Wintec | Te Pūkenga.


About the role


Reporting to the Director Te Kete Manaaki, you will coordinate and lead a team to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of support to ensure equity of access, inclusion and success for people living with disability at Wintec | Te Pūkenga.

You will also identify best practice approaches to achieve an inclusive and equitable environment for learners with impairments to succeed.


As Accessibility Manager, you will work closely with ākonga / learners and their whānau, learning advisors, kaiako / tutors and corporate staff across the institution to maximise Wintec | Te Pūkenga's ability to support learners with impairments and diverse backgrounds.


  • Experience and passion about organisationwide initiatives to address barriers to equity for people living with a disability.
  • Experience working with Māori and Pasifika ākonga and communities.
  • A commitment to create a team culture where ākonga / learners are at the centre of decision making.
  • An understanding of contemporary barriers to equity for people living with impairments.
  • An approach to work that is systematic and well organised but will also see you flex up and adapt to changes in workflow or priorities as required.
  • Highly developed communication and analytical skills.
  • A demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to developing this towards equitable practices and decisions.
  • Initiative and be able to direct work on your own while also leading projects and getting the best out of those with whom you are working.
A tertiary qualification or comparable experience, strong leadership skills and highly developed communication and analytical skills are essential. Experience in the tertiary sector would be an advantage.
