Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role


The Business Support Manager develops, leads and manages the performance and delivery of an administration and support services team, supporting all managers accessing support services in that directorate (or geographic area).


You will provide direction and leadership to your team members to enable them to provide the required business support services of the Director and their Leadership Team.

The team is responsible for the co-ordination of all business planning, operating budget and reporting processes across the area, providing effective linkages with National Office and corporate functions e.g., Finance and Procurement, management information, advice and analysis to support management decision making and resource allocation.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

Te pūtake me te kawenga | Our purpose and role
Te Mahau | Te Tai Whenua (_Central_) is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services, such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū.

Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.
