Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

The role of Pacific Engagement Coordinator is to lead the design, coordination and delivery of events and communication channels to increase recruitment, retention and completion rates amongst Pasifika students.

The role will also connect and engage Pasifika students, families and their communities to enhance a sense of belonging at the University of Canterbury.


Mōu | Who You Are
A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a similar role, including:

  • Experience working in an educational environment (tertiary experience would be advantageous)
  • Experience working with community and funding organisations
  • Experience in graphic design (desirable)
  • Experience in writing reports
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Experience in creating short videos and promotional materials
  • Knowledge and experience of social media
  • Competency in a Pacific language and te reo Māori me ōna tikanga is an advantage

Mātauranga | Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (NZQA Level 7)

Under the leadership of the Director, Pacific Development, the Pacific Engagement Coordinator will be part of the Pacific Development Team (PDT) that provides extensive support, opportunities, programmes, and events for Pacific students at UC as well as some initiatives for UC staff and the wider community.
