We have an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to work at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Waikato as a CNS for the ECT department.


You will play a key role by working closely with the inpatient and community based teams of the Mental Health and Addictions Service and will work in partnership with the other part time ECT CNS.


Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Effective coordination of the ECT services for tangata whaiora who require ECT treatment.
  • To promote and support the implementation of evidence based practice, research best practice and develop clinical practices in the ECT service
  • To provide high quality nursing assessment, planning, preparation, treatment and evaluation using best practice principles.
  • To maintain current professional knowledge and competencies
  • To contribute to the advancement of the practice of ECT nursing at the local and national level.

Mōu | About you

  • You will have:
  • Postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing and at least 4 years' experience working with people with serious mental illness and their families.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills that encompass all stages of ECT treatment including assessment, preparation, ECT procedures in theatre, recovery and follow up.
  • The ability to coordinate and organise a small clinical service, including scheduling, monitoring and evaluating clinical procedures and service delivery.
  • The ability to work independently with mínimal supervision maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to clinical practice development, quality improvement and research.
