The People and Capability Team for the Southern Region is committed to partnering with the business and supporting managers by focusing on connecting all areas of the organisation to work more effectively.

This is achieved in the delivery of day to day advice and coaching alongside people related culture and change initiatives aimed at improving performance and lifting capability.

Our People Services Team play a pivotal role in the ongoing delivery of high quality human resource processes, policy, strategies and services that contribute to the successful achievement of the Department's strategy Hōkai Rangi.

We work in a highly unionised environment and our Senior People Advisors work on complex cases that will really expand your own ER toolkit or allow you an opportunity to further develop these essential skills.

He kōrero mōu | About you

Reporting to the People Services Manager, you are an experienced HR professional with a generalist background along with ER expertise and legislative knowledge.

You work at pace and thrive in an environment that is both complex and varied where the old adage "no two days are ever the same" is really brought to life.

Your strengths are in your ability to build rapport with your managers, coaching and assisting them with ER matters and building capability in this space as well as other generalist HR areas.

Being a team player will be critical within this busy People and Capability environment, supporting peers whilst sharing and collaborating on the mahi we do will be crucial.

Although you will have your own areas of responsibility, you will at times help colleagues and take on cases within their areas and/or pass work over from yours, as this is very much a one team culture.

Flexibility for some travel in the South Island is required as is a full clean driver's licence.
