Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Technical Writer will work with the NZC Review Achievement Standards Team to support the Ministry's sector-based facilitation of Subject Expert Groups (SEGs).

The team is responsible for providing technical (written) expertise to produce high-quality written products and analysis.

Mōhou ake | About you

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.


You will also have:

  • A Tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in building relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and/or the ability to learn quickly
  • A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and systemlevel decision making.
  • Ability to Manage and deliver on work priorities (i.e. plans and organises self to deliver work commitments to required timeframes and quality standards).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
