Opportunity:


We are seeking a
Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join us to work through a two year, structured and comprehensive development programme at our Kinleith Mill.

The programme is customized specifically to focus on the pulp and paper industry and the operational needs of our mills.

On completion of the programme, you will be offered progression pathways into areas specializing in your discipline, to other operational areas to further enhance your knowledge and skills, and potentially to leadership and management roles.

The Kinleith Mill is located approximately 8kms south of Tokoroa, in the Central North Island, an outdoor person's paradise.

The Mill is short distance Tokoroa, an easy commute from Rotorua or Taupo and a little further afield is Cambridge and Hamilton.


Role and Responsibilities:


Working alongside a team of experienced engineers in our Maintenance team, you will be involved in a wide variety of plant improvement or maintenance projects from concept through to commissioning.

You will be responsible for scoping the problem, designing a solution, preparing a budget, ordering components, engaging contractors to complete the works and commission the project.

Over the duration of the program, you can expect to learn technical expertise in the likes of the following, pressure vessel and piping design & specification, project management, recovery and power boiler engineering, pump specification, steam liquid and gas systems and materials handling.

As your confidence builds, you will be presented with the opportunity to individually manage projects of substantive value.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:

  • A minimum tertiary qualification of a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Demonstrate good work ethic and time management skills
  • Ability to be both innovative and practical, with good attention to detail skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the business
  • Display initiative and analytical curiosity to seek out solutions
  • Preferably experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Capable of working within a diverse cross functional team
  • Demonstrate potential leadership skills
  • Positive attitude
