About the role

We view this role as the backbone of Creative HQ – it is integral to the smooth operation of both internal and external delivery. The purpose of the People and Practice Lead is to execute our people strategy and initiatives, with key responsibilities including:

  • Leading our People and Operations functions, including budget management
  • Lead the design and implementation of team wide learning and development plans for Creative HQ and assist on development plans for individuals
  • Lead recruitment activities across the organisation
  • Oversee Health and Safety management
  • Oversee EX initiatives and reporting, including a quarterly staff engagement survey, exit interviews and monitoring the general well-being of employees
  • Work alongside our parent company (WellingtonNZ) to assist with any technical HR or expert advice as required
  • Maintain our people and operational policies to ensure these are up to date and relevant

As with all smaller businesses, it's an 'all hands-on deck' approach here. This role has an operations element including coordinating our team meetings and some events, managing our office maintenance and general ops support for our team - basically, anything to ensure our office experience is a good one, our customers receive a warm welcome to our space, and our delivery team have what they need to travel to our clients and deliver high performance innovation programmes

About you

You will need to come armed with previous P&C experience in the key areas of responsibility listed above.

Your sleeves will permanently be rolled up and you can execute on any given task with no ego. You must love order and routine and be comfortable working behind the scenes to lay the foundations for others to do their best work. You have a hospitable nature and can quickly maintain the respect of the broader team and lead them in the areas of people and practice.

You thrive in high pressure environments with competing priorities, tight deadlines, complexity and some ambiguity. People describe you as enthusiastic, empathetic, open-minded with a good sense of humour and some common-sense.
