About the role


As a Senior Practice Advisor you will provide expert guidance, training and practice support to our national and district teams who manage the case management of persons who have sexually offended.

Using evidence-based practice you will assist these teams to support desistance. You will enjoy working with different workgroups and building relationships.

You will have comprehensive experience in risk assessment and risk management practices with persons who have committed sexual offences against children.

You will ensure the national consistency of evidence-based practice.

National travel is required in this position and whilst you will work as part of close team, you will also have the ability to work independently when required.

You will be joining a small and supportive team which is invested in your professional development.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Manager
  • Psychology, Risk & Practice by overseeing national case and risk assessment practice
  • Provide practice advice and support to district case managers in managing risk and supporting desistance
  • Work collaboratively with Ara Poutama Aotearoa to support the joint risk management framework
  • Provide advice on risk assessment practice and conduct risk assessments where necessary
  • Develop and manage training
  • Support the development of a case review processes
  • Manage internal and external relationships

  • Experience and understanding demonstrated in the supervision, case management and intervention practices for persons who have sexually offended, including a knowledge of 'what works'
  • A minimum of five years' experience working with persons who have sexually offended
  • Sound experience in professional leadership and supervision.
  • Registration to a professional body (if applicable)
  • A tertiary qualification relevant to the responsibilities of the role (minimum qualification of a Master's degree is desirable)
