We are a busy unit, operating in a high tempo and dynamic environment.

Achievers in the Intelligence roles are resilient, enthusiastic self-starters, whose excellent communication skills, sound judgement, critical thinking, and confidence will ensure they're a great team fit.

As a member of MBIE Intelligence, you will develop intelligence products and services for a wide range of customers from leadership teams to frontline staff.

These products and services contribute on both a tactical and strategic level, to inform the debate on priorities, policy and legislative issues and responses.

To do this effectively you must be comfortable in your ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders that ensure your customers get the intelligence services they need in a timely manner.


  • You will be able to learn from the experience of seasoned Intelligence practitioners and gain exposure to the wider NZ Intelligence Community.
  • You will be given every opportunity to expand your professional skills and crosstrain with other agencies as those opportunities present.
  • The chance to dive into work that can be fastpaced and will require you to demonstrate your flexibility, adaptability and resilience this will stretch your thinking and your approach to problem solving as you assist with operational work.

We are open to flexible working arrangements, However, the roles will need to be based predominantly out of the office locations stated above.

  • Strong analytical skills with a problemsolving approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.
  • A collaborative and actionoriented approach.
  • Ability to adapt within a dynamic environment.
  • Good initiative and sound judgement.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

The following may be an advantage:

  • A tertiary qualification or comparable relevant experience.
  • Previous experience with regulatory functions or law enforcement in the public sector.
  • An understanding of intelligence and risk management within the public sector.
  • Experience of handling sensitive or classified information.
