You will become a Defence Intelligence expert; you will focus on a topic related to international defence and security. Senior officials and Ministers will rely on your intelligence assessments to enhance and inform decision-making.

You will be trusted to provide verbal briefs on a regular basis, drawing on information from a range of sources translating findings into accessible, valuable information.

This role is unique because as you develop your critical thinking and grow within NZDF, you can move through the promotion framework.

So, you may start as an Analyst but have the opportunity to progress into a Senior and Lead Analyst as you develop.

There will also be training opportunities both on
- and off-shore, as well as the opportunity to travel overseas for conferences, familiarisation visits, short-term postings and secondment.

As part of the selection process, if you are shortlisted, you will need to be available to attend an assessment centre run in the Wellington region on Wednesday 6 September 2023.

  • Integrity in handling sensitive information; and
  • A postgraduate qualification.

  • You must have been an NZ Citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for 10 years.
