Our client is the exclusive importer and distributor of HONDA motorcycles, power equipment and marine products in New Zealand.

A true market leader

On their behalf we are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a small team of technicians based in the Airport Oaks.

The team works on motorbikes, marine, and power equipment.

This is a hands-on role, requiring you to assist your team with technical tasks as well as performing team leadership, office, and operational duties.

We are looking for someone who will take ownership of the workshop operations and foster a positive team culture that promotes productivity and high standards.

As the Workshop Manager, you will

Lead a specialist team of technicians delivering mechanical trouble shooting, maintenance, commissioning, and repair services.
Oversee the day-to-day workshop operations, coordinating resources to manage workload effectively.
Plan and prioritise work schedules, ensuring the jobs are accurately entered into the system.
Plan and manage workshop resource requirements for consumables, tools, and equipment.
Maintain accurate records of all relevant information, including costings, parts used / required etc.
Support technicians, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
Ensure products in the workshop meet brand standards and safety requirements before they are released.
Drive continuous improvement in processes, systems, workshop layout, and inventory control.
Oversee the commissioning process of fleet motorcycles, including inspections, testing, and quality assurance.
Ensure motorcycles are ready for events or other marketing activities.
Report on any product quality or failure.
Be involved in high level reporting.
Manage workshop inventory, ensuring availability of necessary parts and tools.
Build positive relationships with internal customers, and external stakeholders.
Ensure the workshop adheres to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.

About you:
Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or Supervisor
Holds a qualification as a Motorcycle Technician
OR holds an automotive trade qualification with at least 3+ years as a Motorcycle Technician.
Strong technical knowledge of motorcycle mechanics and commissioning processes.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
Enjoys both hands-on work as well as office/ operations / leadership responsibilities.
Strong team leadership and team management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Proficient in using workshop management software and tools.
